 Testimonials for anne & rachelle

“Damn if Anne hasn’t helped shape my understanding of story structure, world, building, and not settling for ‘okay.’”

John R. Bray, author of Maggie and the Sprinkle Tree and cohost of the Manic Rambling Spiral podcast

"Thanks for helping make my book an award winner, Rachelle!"

J.R.R.R. (Jim) Hardison, author of Fish Wielder, The Helm, and Demon Freaks

“Rachelle was AMAZING! She quickly helped me sort out which genres I’m working in and what my A story and my B story are. I was extremely impressed with her Story Grid. knowledge. I highly recommend her!”

Debbie Kasman, author of fiction

“Anne has helped me immensely on drafting a novel, both technically and mentally. Technically, she is skilled at quickly spotting the holes in my story and suggesting ways to fill them - she obviously has a lot of experience studying and working with stories. Mentally, her gentle but firm words of encouragement - on everything from scene structure to details to the global aim of the story - keep me focused and confident, rather than intimidated and overwhelmed. After 9 sessions of work with her, I feel like I have a good sense of what it takes to write a novel to completion, something I had no idea about at the beginning. I'm thrilled to be working with her."

Joseph Wenzinger, first-time novelist.

“Rachelle was both professional and down-to-earth as well as exceedingly helpful and knowledgeable. She totally demystified the genre question for my current manuscript. Do it – you won’t regret it!! Thank you Rachelle!”

Beverly Lyle Patt, author of Best Friends Forever: A World War II Scrapbook

“Thank you, Rachelle… You’ve helped expand my mind into the possibilities of this genre. As usual, the more I learn about the Story Grid the more I realize there is still so much to know.”

—Sheryl Gwyther, Australian children’s author (novels, short stories, plays).

“While searching for an editor for the final edits of my first feature length screenplay, The Lake Effect, I worried I would never find someone I could place my trust in. After working with certified story grid editor, Anne Hawley, however, all my fears were put to rest.  With her guidance, she took my screenplay to a whole new level. Anne’s knowledge is vast. She provided notes that were both specific and nuanced, and communicated them in safe and supportive manner.  After our work together was finished, I felt confident that the story worked and all the necessary elements were in place. Feedback I’ve gotten, since, from other professionals, has validated this belief.  I look forward to working with her on future projects.

Cynthia Wikler, Filmmaker, Screenwriter of forthcoming film The Lake Effect
